So, apparently the US Census costs upwards of $360 BILLION to conduct. This, in light of the current budget crisis… makes me feel like we’re bordering on third world nation problems.
However—there is some hope. Hope Yen, AP reporter writes (no pun intended 
):
“Groves has said he hopes to return tens of millions of dollars to government coffers by motivating more U.S. residents to mail in their form, which avoids costly follow-up visits by census takers. The bureau has said that if 1 percent of Super Bowl viewers change their minds and mail in their form, it will save taxpayers $25 million to $30 million in follow-up costs.”
SO- Lets MAIL back those Census Questionnaires People!!! And keep those nosy census workers from knocking on your door. I actually did not know that the Census people only knocked on your door when you don’t mail back the form. Am I the only one? I realize I can be pretty clueless sometimes…
